2019 in art anniversaries

Quotes are from The Guardian: ‘Art anniversaries in 2019

2019 is a great year for art commemorations!

It’s the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt van Rijn’s death, with multiple related events in The Netherlands, including the largest Rembrandt collection in one single exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. (15 Feb-10 June)

It’s the 500th anniversary of the death of our dear Leonardo da Vinci, with events in Italy (obvs !) in France and in the UK, the blockbuster show being at the Louvre in autumn.

The centenary of Bauhaus, ‘the revolutionary art school founded by Walter Gropius in 1919’ with its motto ‘Rethink the world’.
There will be events ‘connecting landmark Bauhaus and modernist architecture’ all over Germany.

It’s also Renoir 100th in December. If you’re in Paris, go check out the Renoir Gardens, where he once lived, and if vacationing in the French riviera, explore his old house and studio, now a museum surrounded by beautiful olive trees.

And, last but not least, on the 20th of July it will be the 50th anniversary of the moon landing! With an actual moon festival happening in London (OMG ??!), July 19th-26th.

All those events look so appealing!
Which ones will you go to?
